Question by laura g: how do i convert molar concerntrations on a small scale, please help chemists(and people knowing PCR)?
i need to work out how many moles of a substance is in my final liquid.
initially i had 25mM concentration of MgCl2, i took 0.6ul of this and put it into a liquid with a final volume of 10 ul. please can you help i honestly can’t work out how many moles is in the next liquid. really appreciate your help.

Answer by keitaro0717
steps:
used the dilution equation
M1V1 = M2V2
Where:
M1 – initial concentration
V1 – volume taken
M2 – final concentration
V1 – final volume
in your case:
M2 is the unknown:
M2 = M1V1 / V2
note: convert ul to L…
M = moles / Liters solution

25 mM means 25 mmol/L which is = to 25umol/ml which is = to 25nmol/ul. So, 0.6 ul x 25 nmol/ul = 15 nmoles which now goes into a final volume of 10ul. So, in that 10 ul you now have 15 nmoles. Does that answer the question, or did you want to know the final concentration?
